About the Zombie Run and Lurch

The course runs along the Towpath Trail, setting off from Clark Field in Tremont. The trail curves near the Cuyahoga River, with views of Cleveland's industrial riverfront and Monroe Street Cemetery close by. Costumes are part of the spirit of the event, and dogs are welcome on a short leash. Proceeds support an all-volunteer group that maintains the cemetery grounds.

Registration and packet pickup open at the start area on race morning. There are refreshments after the finish. Awards go to top finishers overall and across age groups in both male and female categories.

Common Questions About the Zombie Run and Lurch

Will I finish last at the Zombie Run and Lurch?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 30:18, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Zombie Run and Lurch a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (49 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Zombie Run and Lurch?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:18 while the median finisher took 30:18. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
