About the YMCA Harrisburg Half & 10K

The course starts and finishes on City Island, then heads out along the riverfront path through downtown Harrisburg. The terrain is essentially flat the whole way, which makes it a course where people run to time. It runs on open roads, so you share space with traffic and need to stay alert.

Parking is on City Island, right at the start and finish. Traffic backing up onto the island is common on race morning, so arriving early matters. Packet pickup is available the two days before at local running stores, with a race-morning window on the island as a backup.

Common Questions About the YMCA Harrisburg Half & 10K

Will I finish last at the YMCA Harrisburg Half & 10K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:05:14, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:24:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the YMCA Harrisburg Half & 10K a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 462 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the YMCA Harrisburg Half & 10K?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:13:30 while the median finisher took 2:05:14. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
