About the Witches Wave - Halloween Run 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon
The course runs along Bolsa Chica State Beach, so you get ocean air and flat pavement the whole way. Halloween costumes are expected, not just tolerated, and there is a costume contest after the run along with a cackle competition that tends to draw a crowd. Age group awards go out across all distances, and the finish line has a DJ, a candy station, and a pumpkin ring toss.
Packet pickup opens race morning at the event site. Parking is in the state beach lot, though it costs a fee per car, so carpooling makes sense. A nearby shopping structure is also an option if you do not mind a short warmup jog to the start.
