About the Wiregrass Turkey Trot
The Wiregrass Turkey Trot runs through the Shops at Wiregrass on Thanksgiving morning, so the surroundings are an outdoor mall rather than a park or trail. The course is flat, the route is short, and there are costume contestants scattered through the field. Music plays at the start and finish and at points along the way, and a warmup happens at the start line before the race goes off.
The race is a charity event organized by a local Rotary club, with all proceeds going to community giving. There is a costume contest with prizes, selfie stations set up along the course, and a cheering section in the final stretch.
