About the Will to Run Challenge
The course runs out and back along the Eastern Trail, which follows the former railroad bed through forested stretches outside Kennebunk. Underfoot is hard-packed stone dust, so the surface is firm and fast. Along the way, the trail crosses the Maine Turnpike on a pedestrian bridge that was built specifically for this path and is the only one of its kind on that highway.
Packets for local runners are available at pickup locations in the Biddeford area rather than mailed out, while runners from farther away receive theirs by mail during race week. The event benefits scholarship and community outreach programs run by the organizing group.
