About the West Georgia Turkey Trot

The course starts at Hobbs Farm and follows the Carrollton Greenbelt out through the farm's green corridor and over toward a lakeside park area before looping back to the trailhead. It is a trail-adjacent route with a natural, open feel, and proceeds go to local children in foster care, which draws a crowd that takes the cause seriously even if the pace varies.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store in Carrollton, with race-morning pickup available in the hour before the start. The start and finish are both at the Hobbs Farm trailhead, so parking and logistics center on that entry point.

Common Questions About the West Georgia Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the West Georgia Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:10, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:18:47, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the West Georgia Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

A field of 465 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the West Georgia Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 16:25 while the median finisher took 38:10. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
