About the Werewolf Chase Free Fun Run

The course threads through a network of trails in downtown Fort Wayne, and the hook is that you are being chased. Participants start with flag football belts attached at the waist, and a few minutes after the runners go, the werewolves follow. Lose both flags before the finish and you have been caught. The route is wheelchair friendly and stroller friendly.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at Fort Wayne Outfitters, with race-morning pickup also available before the start. Water and snacks are at the finish area, along with candy if you arrive with your flags still intact. A local union community service committee collects non-perishable food donations at the event, so bringing something along is encouraged.

Common Questions About the Werewolf Chase Free Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Werewolf Chase Free Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:41, and the last recorded finisher came in around 43:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Werewolf Chase Free Fun Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (69 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Werewolf Chase Free Fun Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 24:45 while the median finisher took 33:41. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
