Fort Wayne Great Santa Run

Fort Wayne, IN

Registration openAnnual since at least 2023

About the Fort Wayne Great Santa Run

The course runs through downtown Fort Wayne, starting and finishing at a park along the waterfront. Participants dress in Santa suits, so the field looks more like a parade than a typical road race. A portion of registration proceeds supports esophageal cancer research, which gives the morning a purpose beyond the costume chaos.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store on the southwest side of the city. The organizers stress picking up then, since getting into a full Santa suit at the start line is a production. Cookies and hot chocolate are waiting at the finish.

Common Questions About the Fort Wayne Great Santa Run

Will I finish last at the Fort Wayne Great Santa Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 39:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:20, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fort Wayne Great Santa Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 317 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fort Wayne Great Santa Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:28 while the median finisher took 39:02. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
