About the We Run This Beach Marathon
The course runs through Gulf State Park on paved paths, looping past Lake Shelby and a couple of smaller lakes nearby. The terrain is genuinely flat throughout, which is why this race draws runners chasing qualifying times. Aid stations are spaced generously along the route, stocked with water, an electrolyte drink, and energy gels in both caffeinated and non-caffeinated varieties.
The start and finish are at the Gulf State Park Lodge, and the post-race party sets up right on the beach. There is food and live music after you finish, and a couple of drink tickets are part of the celebration.
