About the Watson Strong 5k Color Fun Run
The course starts at the base of a levee and heads down a main avenue before looping back to the start. Color stations are spaced throughout the route, so by the time you cross the finish you are thoroughly dusted. The surroundings are flat and open, and the finish area is at an amphitheater with vendors, music, and space to hang around afterward.
The race honors a young boy named Watson Calhoun and raises money for pediatric cancer care and the foundation his family started in his name. Post-race, the amphitheater area fills out with vendors and photo opportunities. The organizers suggest out-of-town runners head there to clean up and stay for the festivities.
