About the Warrior Waterfront 5K

The course runs through Las Colonias Park along the waterfront, on trails that shift between grass, packed dirt, and pavement. The route loops back on itself, which means spectators can catch runners more than once without moving far. The surroundings are open and park-like, with the river nearby the whole way.

Bib pickup is race morning at the park shelter, with the window closing before the start. The race runs alongside a high school cross country invitational, so the park fills up early with athletes, coaches, and families. After finishing, there is food at the waterfront, and zip line and water activities are available on site.

Common Questions About the Warrior Waterfront 5K

Will I finish last at the Warrior Waterfront 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 29:12, and the last recorded finisher came in around 41:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Warrior Waterfront 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (8 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Warrior Waterfront 5K?

The 5K winner ran 20:21 while the median finisher took 29:12. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
