About the Wabash Valley Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run

The race starts and finishes at a community college campus on the east side of Terre Haute, which gives the course a clean, organized feel with plenty of open space around the start area. Several distance options run on the same morning, so the parking lot fills with a mix of serious half marathon runners and families there for the shorter run.

Packet pickup happens race morning at the start line, so there is no separate trip the day before. Awards for the half marathon go deep into age groups, and the ceremony wraps up before midday.

Common Questions About the Wabash Valley Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Wabash Valley Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:13:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:46:49, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Wabash Valley Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (80 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Wabash Valley Half Marathon/5K/Kids Fun Run?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:28:33 while the median finisher took 2:13:26. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
