About the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay

This is a three-person relay along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, running out-and-back legs that start and finish at Trailblazer Park. Each runner takes two legs, with the legs getting progressively shorter as the race goes on, so the final stretch is a quick sprint to the line. The trail is paved and follows a greenway corridor through the area.

Packet pickup happens race morning at the park, so there is no separate trip the day before. The team captain collects everything for the whole group. After the last runner finishes, there is a tailgate at the park with music, college football, and craft beer on hand.

Common Questions About the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay

Will I finish last at the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 21 Miles field finished slower than 2:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:08:42, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay a good first 21 Miles?

It is a small race (34 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 21 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay?

The 21 Miles winner ran 2:18 while the median finisher took 2:58. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
