About the VETERANS DAY 5K RUN / WALK

The course starts and finishes near a Veterans Memorial in front of the VFW post, so the monument is the backdrop at both ends of your run. It is a road race through Islandia, organized by the local VFW post as a fundraiser to support veterans and their families in the community who have faced hardship.

Registration opens race morning at the VFW post itself, so there is no separate venue to track down. Afterward, there is a barbecue at the post. Age group awards are part of the finish-line scene, and a kids fun run runs earlier in the morning for younger participants.
