About the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon & 4 Mile Run

The course runs through Vancouver Lake park and out onto Reiger Road, following an out-and-back route that also swings down a bike path toward Frenchman's Bar before doubling back. The terrain is very flat the whole way, with a mix of road, gravel path, and paved bike path. Orange cones mark each mile, and the course is well signed throughout.

Packet pickup happens on race morning at the park, with an optional session the day before at the same location. Parking at the park costs a small fee, and the organizers strongly encourage carpooling given the limited spaces. There are port-a-potties at the start, the finish, and at the far turnaround. Home-baked cookies and other treats are out at the finish.

Common Questions About the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon & 4 Mile Run

Will I finish last at the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon & 4 Mile Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 1:59:14, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:19:58, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon & 4 Mile Run a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 272 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon & 4 Mile Run?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:09:26 while the median finisher took 1:59:14. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Vancouver Lake Half Marathon & 4 Mile Run?

Join a local run club. Vancouver Run, Grub and Chug Club and others in Vancouver welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
