About the Dia de los Muertos - Hockinson AAA Booster 5K Run/Walk & Kids Costume Mile

The course starts and finishes at the picnic shelter and playground area of Hockinson Meadows Community Park. It is a run-walk format, so people move at their own pace. There is also a shorter kids distance where high school cross country runners come along to run beside the younger participants, which gives it a school-meet feel without the pressure.

Packet pickup runs the morning of the race, before the events begin. The start area is the park's picnic shelter, so there is space to spread out and linger after you finish. The park setting makes it easy to stick around with family once you are done.

Common Questions About the Dia de los Muertos - Hockinson AAA Booster 5K Run/Walk & Kids Costume Mile

Will I finish last at the Dia de los Muertos - Hockinson AAA Booster 5K Run/Walk & Kids Costume Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:02, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Dia de los Muertos - Hockinson AAA Booster 5K Run/Walk & Kids Costume Mile a good first 5K?

It is a small race (95 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Dia de los Muertos - Hockinson AAA Booster 5K Run/Walk & Kids Costume Mile?

The 5K winner ran 19:27 while the median finisher took 36:09. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Dia de los Muertos - Hockinson AAA Booster 5K Run/Walk & Kids Costume Mile?

Join a local run club. Vancouver Run, Grub and Chug Club and others in Vancouver welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
