Valentine's Day 5k

Russellville, AR

Registration openAnnual since at least 2015

About the Valentine's Day 5k

The course starts and finishes on the ATU campus at Doc Bryan Hall. The race has deep local roots, and one of its more unusual touches is a sweetheart competition where pairs add their finishing times together and compete as a couple, either married or not, alongside the standard individual race.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store in Russellville, with morning-of pickup available at the start line. Same-day registration is also accepted on race morning before the gun goes off.

Common Questions About the Valentine's Day 5k

Will I finish last at the Valentine's Day 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 31:50, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Valentine's Day 5k a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 234 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Valentine's Day 5k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:34 while the median finisher took 31:50. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
