About the TuscParks Annual Canal Tavern of Zoar 5K Run and Walk
The course runs a historic canal towpath between a fort and a park trailhead, point-to-point, so you finish somewhere different from where you started. The trail surface is typical of converted rail-to-trail paths, mostly flat with the kind of packed gravel and packed dirt you find along old canal corridors. The surroundings are open and tree-lined.
A shuttle brings runners from the finish area back to the start, so you do not have to arrange a car drop. Sign-in is near the park trailhead and the Canal Tavern. After the race, the tavern hosts an Oktoberfest-style party on its patio, which is where most people seem to end up.
