About the 2027 Trail of Payne 5K, 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run
The race runs through Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, starting near a lakeside picnic area and dock. From there, runners hit a dirt road before the course splits into the trails. Underfoot, expect packed dirt, roots, soft sand, grass, and occasional mud. The trails shift between narrow and winding to wide and open, with patches of shade and stretches of full sun.
Parking follows signs inside the state park, and the start and finish are at the same lakeside area, so there is no shuttle to worry about. The park stays open after the race, which makes it easy to linger and explore the preserve once you are done.
