About the Twisted Turkey Trot 5K Quitman, Texas
This one falls on the thirteenth, which the organizers lean into hard. Costumes are expected and there are prizes for the best-dressed runner and the best-dressed dog. The whole thing is built around the holiday absurdity rather than the clock, but it is a genuine road race with a finish line.
Packet pickup happens the evening before at a local coffee shop in the morning and a local grill in the afternoon. Both spots are in Quitman, so you have a couple of windows to grab your bib without rushing.
