About the Santa Run 5K (Quitman-Lake Fork Kiwanis)
This one runs through the city streets in the evening, so the Christmas light displays along the route are part of the experience rather than just backdrop. Dogs are welcome on leash, and people tend to show up in holiday costume, Santa hats and antlers and elf ears being common sights. There are sugar cookies at the water station, which is a small thing that sticks with you.
Early packet pickup is available the evening before at a local grill, with a morning window the same day at a nearby coffee shop. Both options are in town, so neither requires much planning.
