About the 11th Annual Savage Family Turkey Trot 5k (Run/Walk)
This is a Thanksgiving morning 5k in South Portland, created by a family to honor a husband and father who was an avid runner and triathlete. The race runs as a walk or run, which shapes the crowd on course. It has a genuine personal history behind it, and that comes through in how it is organized.
Proceeds go to a memorial scholarship fund that helps local kids participate in youth development programs, with additional support going to the food pantry and other community causes. Sponsors cover the operating costs, so registration fees flow directly to those programs.
