About the Run For Sweet Caroline

The race is held in memory of Caroline Rhine, who died from leiomyosarcoma, and all registration proceeds go toward sarcoma awareness, patient support, and research. Sunflowers run through the whole event as the symbol of sarcoma awareness. Shorter untimed distances loop the lake at Spanish River Park, while the timed race is chip-scored.

Packet pickup is available beforehand at a local running shop in Boca Raton, with a cutoff at midday the day before. You can also pick up at the venue on race morning, though arriving a bit early helps. Post-race, there are health screenings, shave ice, and family activities on site.

Common Questions About the The Run For Sweet Caroline

Will I finish last at the Run For Sweet Caroline?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:11:16, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run For Sweet Caroline a good first 5K?

A field of 241 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run For Sweet Caroline?

The 5K winner ran 19:25 while the median finisher took 35:37. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
