About the ROOTED HALF MARATHON & 5K
The course runs through Orion Oaks County Park on well-kept trails that cut through wooded sections and open grassy areas. The terrain rolls gently for the most part, with nothing punishing underfoot. The organizers say it feels more like a northern forest than a suburban park, and from the sound of the trail system, that tracks.
The start and finish area sits inside one of the park's dog pen enclosures, which open directly onto the trail system. Dogs on leash are welcome on the course for the shorter distance. A dog rescue organization and an animal welfare foundation both have booths on site, and there is a pet adoption opportunity at the finish area.
