About the Rabbit Run 5k & OC Challenge Wild Hare 5k & Half Marathon

The course runs out and back along a landscaped trail shared with cyclists, dog walkers, and other runners. The surroundings are planted and kept up, and the path feels more park-like than urban. The whole event has an Easter theme woven through it, with eggs to find along the route and a chance to take photos with someone dressed as the Easter Bunny at the finish.

All packet pickup happens on race morning at Jeffrey Trail Middle School, with registration opening well before the first wave. The school also serves as the parking lot. Restrooms are inside the school buildings on both sides of the expo area, and signs point the way.

Common Questions About the The Rabbit Run 5k & OC Challenge Wild Hare 5k & Half Marathon

Will I finish last at the Rabbit Run 5k & OC Challenge Wild Hare 5k & Half Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:53, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Rabbit Run 5k & OC Challenge Wild Hare 5k & Half Marathon a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 257 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Rabbit Run 5k & OC Challenge Wild Hare 5k & Half Marathon?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:26 while the median finisher took 38:53. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
