About the Melt Down - Three Consecutive 5Ks
The Melt Down is a road race through a pair of parks in Shelbyville, run on a wide paved trail that crosses a historic bridge. The surface is smooth throughout. The concept is simple: run the races back to back, in order, with each wave starting an hour after the last. You can stop after one or keep going, and nobody makes that call for you until race morning.
The start and finish area sits next to a splash pad and playground, so families with kids have somewhere to land while runners do their thing. Indoor restrooms are at the venue. Post-race awards cover the top finishers in the first wave, plus a separate prize for the best combined time across all the waves.
