About the Rudolph Run 5K Run/Walk

A road race on paved trails through Shelbyville, with a flat course that moves quickly underfoot. The race benefits a local food bank, and a snow machine runs on course regardless of the weather, which gives the morning a different feel than most winter races. A free children's run goes off before the main event. There is a warm building at the start and finish for registration and restrooms.

Common Questions About the Rudolph Run 5K Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Rudolph Run 5K Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:48, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Rudolph Run 5K Run/Walk a good first 5K?

A field of 308 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Rudolph Run 5K Run/Walk?

The 5K winner ran 16:22 while the median finisher took 31:02. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
