About the Longest Day (100k - 50k - 26.2 - 13.1)
The Preserve at Lakewood is a wooded property on the edge of Greenville with grass trails that roll through open fields, stands of cedar and maple, and patches of shade. The format is elimination-style: all runners leave the start together each lap, and the cutoff tightens by a minute every round. Miss the window and your day is done. Wildlife, including deer, turtles, and foxes, turns up regularly.
Packet pickup opens an hour before the start. Runners are encouraged to bring a tent and camp chair and set up a home base near the start and finish, and tent setup is available the evening before. The aid station stocks pickles, cookies, candy, water, Coke, and soda. No cups are provided, so bring your own bottle or hydration vest.
