About the Long View Marathon

The course runs point-to-point, starting in Fort Collins and finishing in Loveland. Both the full and the half use stretches of recently built bike paths, the Long View and Front Range trails, so the pavement is smooth and the route feels open. Mountain views are present for much of the run, off to the west as you move south through the corridor between the two cities.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at a local running store in Fort Collins. Race-morning pickup is also available, but the start times are firm, so arriving early matters. Each distance has its own start location, with the finish shared at Fairgrounds Park in Loveland.

Common Questions About the The Long View Marathon

Will I finish last at the Long View Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:09:24, and the last recorded finisher came in around 5:06:36, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Long View Marathon a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 313 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Long View Marathon?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:16:18 while the median finisher took 2:09:24. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
