About the Leesburg Blue Foundation 5K

This one runs at night on the actual runways and taxiways of Leesburg International Airport. The course is lit up for the evening, so you are moving through a working airfield under open sky, which is about as unusual a setting as a road race gets. It is flat pavement the whole way, with the glow of runway lights instead of streetlights.

Proceeds go to a foundation that supports local law enforcement. The airport setting means the start area has a different feel than a park or a downtown street, and the evening timing keeps the heat more manageable than a morning race would.
