About the Hoag OC Marathon Running Festival
The marathon and half marathon start at a shopping center in Newport Beach and work their way toward the fairgrounds, passing coastal views along the Pacific, a stretch of historic highway through a seaside village, and wetlands before moving inland through an arts district and a large shopping area. The finish is at the fairgrounds, where a post-race festival is set up.
The shorter race runs through the fairgrounds property and onto a nearby college campus, so the two days have a noticeably different feel. The kids' run and the shorter race share a day, which makes the fairgrounds area busy well before the main event gets underway.
