About the Great Gingerbread Run 5k

The course starts at a corporate campus and loops through the neighboring NHTI grounds before returning. It runs flat the whole way, so there is no real climbing to brace for. Warm drinks, cookies, and fruit are waiting at the finish, all in keeping with the gingerbread theme. Cash prizes go to the top finishers among men and women.

Packet pickup and the start are both at the Delta Dental campus on Delta Drive. A children's race runs alongside the main event. Registration fees benefit the Helping Hands Fund, so the entry cost goes somewhere beyond the race itself.

Common Questions About the The Great Gingerbread Run 5k

Will I finish last at the Great Gingerbread Run 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 29:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:39, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Great Gingerbread Run 5k a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 203 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Great Gingerbread Run 5k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:32 while the median finisher took 29:04. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
