About the Great Ferry Race

The course starts right at the ferry dock and works its way around Bainbridge Island, mixing paved roads with groomed trails through the island's interior. The trails are approachable but the overall route is genuinely hilly, more so than a typical road half. If uneven ground gives you trouble, this one is worth thinking twice about.

Getting here is part of the morning: most runners walk onto the ferry in Seattle and cross the water before the race begins. After finishing, there is a post-race festival on the island, and you choose your own return ferry back to Seattle when you are ready.
