About the Ellerbe Marathon and Half Marathon

The course leaves downtown Ellerbe on Page Street and heads out into the countryside on paved state roads, which stay open to traffic throughout the race. Half marathoners complete one loop back into town; marathoners head out and do the whole thing again. The roads are quiet and rural, and the race has a genuinely old-school feel, small field, no corporate sponsors, just runners.

The start and finish are near the Ellerbe Rescue Squad headquarters in the center of town. There is a post-race meal, and finishers will find pottery wine cups waiting at the end. Aid stations carry snacks along with the usual drinks.
