About the Classic at Mastick

The Classic at Mastick is held at Mastick park in Fairview Park, with a shorter kids' run and a chip-timed distance race for adults. The event doubles as a scholarship fundraiser for local high school seniors, which gives the evening a purpose beyond just racing. Runners of all paces show up, and the vibe is more neighborhood than competitive circuit.

Packet pickup runs on the two evenings before the race at a local running store, with race-day pickup available at the South Mastick Picnic Area pavilion. The start area is outdoors under the pavilion, and awards follow the final wave. Each runner picks up their own packet; no team collection is offered.

Common Questions About the The Classic at Mastick

Will I finish last at the Classic at Mastick?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 22:41, and the last recorded finisher came in around 47:30, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Classic at Mastick a good first 5K?

A field of 310 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Classic at Mastick?

The 5K winner ran 16:24 while the median finisher took 22:41. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
