The course rolls through Ridgefield Park with enough elevation change to make the back half feel rewarding. The descent into the finish brings you onto a track, and the route is USATF certified. It is named for Chris Conway, and proceeds go to a local nonprofit that supports children with special needs in the community.

Parking is at the high school, at the bottom of Morningside Lane, or on side streets nearby. Give yourself extra time to park and walk over. After the race, there is an indoor and outdoor BBQ with a live DJ and post-race refreshments.

Common Questions About the The Chris Conway Memorial Run and 1 Mile Walk

Will I finish last at the Chris Conway Memorial Run and 1 Mile Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 28:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Chris Conway Memorial Run and 1 Mile Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (177 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Chris Conway Memorial Run and 1 Mile Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:48 while the median finisher took 28:45. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
