About the Choose Joy for Melina 5K
The race is held at Canfield High School and benefits the Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation, which raises money for pediatric brain tumor research. The course runs from the school grounds, and the afternoon start gives the event a different feel from a typical early-morning road race. A kids fun run on the track runs later in the day.
Packet pickup happens at the school before the race starts, with a separate earlier pickup window at a local hotel for virtual participants who want their packet in person. The broader Choose Joy Day celebration runs alongside the race, open to runners, families, and anyone else who shows up.
