The Bridgeport Mile runs track-style on Bond Street, set up to mimic the feel of a competitive track race rather than a typical road course. Music plays along the route and there is a festival setup around the start and finish. The race grew out of a years-long relationship between the organizers and local high school cross country and track programs, and that connection shows in the crowd.
