About the Blazing 5k
The course runs through Water Works Park on a USATF-certified road loop. It starts on a back section, then opens onto a larger main loop where spectators can watch most of the field from one spot. The route finishes on a long, open straightaway. This also serves as the USATF Iowa Road State Championship, so the field draws serious competitors alongside everyday runners.
Packet pickup is available the evening before at Fleet Feet Des Moines, then again at the park the morning before race day, with a final window early on race morning before the start. Awards take place at the park shelter after the race wraps up, with age group gift cards provided by Fleet Feet.
