About the 5.4 Funky Run

Vista View Park sits in western Broward County, and the course winds around and over the two hills inside it, completing a couple of loops. The hills are real enough to make this one work as a workout, not just a stroll. The disco theme runs through the whole morning, with costume judging and dancing alongside the usual age-group awards.

All packet pickup happens race morning at the park. Parking is inside the park to the right of the entrance, and once you park, there is a short walk across a small footbridge on the north side to reach the start area. The entrance can back up, so arriving early helps.

Common Questions About the The 5.4 Funky Run

Will I finish last at the 5.4 Funky Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5.4 Miles field finished slower than 52:41, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:33:40, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 5.4 Funky Run a good first 5.4 Miles?

It is a small race (109 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5.4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 5.4 Funky Run?

The 5.4 Miles winner ran 30:12 while the median finisher took 52:41. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
