The course follows Blacktail Loop, a paved stretch that stays mostly flat and is straightforward to navigate. The surroundings are open enough to offer some scenic views along the way. The race is a fundraiser for a campus engineering organization, with a portion of proceeds going to breast cancer research in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
