About the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Oklahoma City
The course runs through Wheeler Park, with shaded paths and natural surroundings that help offset the summer heat. It is the kind of route where tree cover does real work, and the park setting keeps things quieter underfoot than a road race would. A DJ at the start keeps the energy up, and awards are announced in person after everyone finishes.
Kona Ice sets up at the finish, which is a reasonable thing to find at the end of a summer half. The post-race area has snacks and music, and the awards ceremony happens there on site rather than being mailed out later.
