The course runs through Riverfront Park, with shaded paths and trails along the way. For a summer race, the tree cover helps, though the heat is part of the deal and the organizers lean into it rather than apologize for it. A DJ keeps things moving at the start area, and names get called at the finish.
Kona Ice sets up at the finish, which is a reasonable reward after a warm morning on the course. Awards go deep into age groups, with trophies for overall winners and pin awards down the placing order. The post-race area has snacks and music while results get sorted and announced.
