About the Strides for Recovery

Strides for Recovery is built around a cause: supporting people in recovery from addiction and pushing back against the stigma that surrounds it. The race is part of a larger festival happening the same morning, so the atmosphere reflects that, with music and activity around the start and finish area.

Smoothie shots and pulled pork sandwiches are at the finish, along with snacks and water. Pre-race packet pickup runs on the two afternoons before the event, with race-morning pickup available as well. Massages are on site after the race.

Common Questions About the Strides for Recovery

Will I finish last at the Strides for Recovery?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 29:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 45:27, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Strides for Recovery a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (44 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Strides for Recovery?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:40 while the median finisher took 29:02. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
