The course winds through a few distinct parts of the city, passing the university campus, the downtown streets, and the Campus Corner neighborhood nearby. It reads like a tour of what makes Norman tick, and the surroundings shift enough that the route holds your attention throughout.
A kids zone is set up at the finish area, so the start and finish share the same spot, making it easy for families to spread out and wait. The atmosphere at the end leans toward a neighborhood block party more than a road race wind-down.
