About the Step Up for America's Heroes Stair Challenge
The challenge takes place inside a high school stadium, where participants climb a set number of stairs in tribute to the first responders, military personnel, and civilians who climbed the World Trade Center during the attacks. The stair total is chosen specifically to reflect that climb, making the effort feel weighted with purpose rather than just physical.
The event is free to enter, though organizers ask for a donation to the Disabled American Veterans. Doughnuts and beverages are on hand for participants. Those who prefer not to tackle the full stair climb can do a partial climb, and the track around the football field is open for walking or running as well.
