About the Deerfield Park Turkey Trot 5k
The course runs through Deerfield Park, which holds its color well into the fall. The terrain is park-style running, and the whole thing takes place Thanksgiving morning. Entry fees go toward a track program's spring break travel, so the field tends to draw people who know the cause as much as the race itself.
Light snacks and drinks are out after the finish. Age group winners take home gift cards rather than hardware, which fits the morning's tone. The park setting keeps things straightforward: show up, run, eat.
