This is a patriotic-themed race held on Armed Forces Day, put on by the Iowa American Legion to benefit veterans and youth programs across the state. Costumes are part of the culture here, so expect plenty of red, white, and blue on the course. The event has a celebration feel, with food, drinks, and music at the finish.
