About the St Patrick's Day Run

This is a St. Patrick's Day-themed run through Fresno, with a couple of distance options to choose from. Both routes are open to runners and walkers, and age group awards go out across the board. The race is part of a regional runner-of-the-year points series, so it draws people chasing standings alongside those just there for the holiday.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before the race at a Fleet Feet store at Ft. Washington and Friant Road, with another window available on race morning before the start. The morning schedule moves quickly, with a costume contest and the national anthem before the first wave goes off. Green beer is on hand at the finish for those of legal age.

Common Questions About the St Patrick's Day Run

Will I finish last at the St Patrick's Day Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4 Miles field finished slower than 47:03, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:28:54, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the St Patrick's Day Run a good first 4 Miles?

A field of 605 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the St Patrick's Day Run?

The 4 Miles winner ran 22:02 while the median finisher took 47:03. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
