About the St Patrick's 5K

The course runs through Park Place, a walkable outdoor shopping and dining district in Leawood. The route is fairly flat, and the finish line sits under a large rainbow-shaped inflatable arch. It leans into the St. Patrick's Day theme throughout, so expect green in the crowd.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at Brown Suga, a restaurant inside Park Place, which makes it easy to grab your bib close to where the race starts. Race-morning pickup is also available for those who cannot make it the day before.

Common Questions About the St Patrick's 5K

Will I finish last at the St Patrick's 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 35:46, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the St Patrick's 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 739 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the St Patrick's 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:52 while the median finisher took 35:46. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
